On July 24, State Grid released its construction and operational data for the first half of 2026. Fixed-asset investment reached 312.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%, exceeding the semi-annual construction target.
Investment priorities cover three major sectors: capacity expansion of UHV transmission corridors, intelligent upgrading of urban and rural distribution networks, and supporting energy storage facilities. In the first six months, the volume of electricity traded via market-based transactions nationwide hit 3.48 trillion kWh, up 25.6% year on year; inter-provincial green power trading volume stood at 64.1 billion kWh, growing by 23% year on year. In line with the 15th Five-Year Plan for energy, total national grid investment will surpass 5 trillion yuan in the next five years, an over 80% jump from the 14th Five-Year Plan period. A total of 15 new UHV DC outward transmission corridors will be built to lift the total power transmission capacity of the west-to-east power transmission project to 420 million kW, meeting the consumption demand of 200 million kW of newly installed wind and solar power capacity each year.
