Epoxy Resin Cast Voltage Transformer Structural Features
Voltage transformers can be classified by insulation medium into dry-type, cast-resin, oil-immersed, and gas-insulated types. Insulation structures vary by voltage level and application environment. Low-voltage transformers for measurement are usually dry-type. High-voltage or ultra-high-voltage sealed gas-insulated transformers, such as SF6 types, are also dry-type. Cast-resin type is suitable for 35kV and below, while products above 35kV are generally oil-immersed.
Compared with conventional oil-immersed and gas-insulated transformers, epoxy resin cast voltage transformers offer oil-free, gas-free, no-shell, maintenance-free operation and excellent insulation performance. They are widely used worldwide.
Cast insulation is formed by mixing resin, filler, pigment, and curing agent, then pouring the mixture into a mold containing primary and secondary windings and other components. After curing, the mixed compound fixes the components and serves as the main insulation. It offers good insulation, high mechanical strength, moisture resistance, and fire resistance. The resin compound has good flowability at room or high temperature, fills small gaps, forms complex shapes, and bonds metal and insulating materials. It is widely used in indoor instrument transformers up to 35kV.
Key Features of Epoxy Resin Cast Voltage Transformers:
Oil-free design, protecting the environment;
Maintenance-free operation, saving labor, material, and outage time;
Materials are non-flammable or flame-retardant self-extinguishing, providing flame resistance and explosion protection.
CNYIHU uses epoxy resin APG and vacuum casting processes for voltage transformers, current transformers, and combined transformers. Representative products include the JDZW-10R Voltage Transformer and JLSZV-10 Combined Transformer. For production details, see our Voltage Transformer Manufacturing Process article.
